Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the color difference (¥ÄE*) of lithium disilicate ceramic veneers with and without glazing. Square specimens 0.6 mm thick were made of the following materials with or without glazing (n=40): IPS e.maxPress and Styleveneers. The color coordinates (CIE L* a* b*) of the specimens were measured with a colorimeter (ShadeEye NCC¢ç). The total color difference (¥ÄE*) was calculated from the color difference of the materials with and without glazing. Data were analyzed with an unpaired t-test and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 (p=0.05). The ¥ÄL* of IPS e.maxPress and Styleveneers specimens were -0.35¡¾0.99 and - 0.42¡¾0.78, respectively. The ¥Äa* of these specimens were 0.09¡¾0.16 and -0.01¡¾0.14. The ¥Äb* of these specimens were -1.60¡¾0.84 and -1.22¡¾0.42. The ¥ÄE* of the specimens were 1.95¡¾0.69 and 1.45¡¾0.58. The differences between the products were not statistically different. Multiple regression analysis showed that ¥Äb* and ¥ÄL* improve ¥ÄE*. Within the limitations of this study, we can conclude that the glazing process influences color change of lithium disilicate ceramic veneers.
